Hitch Repeats at 2026 NSCA U.S. Open for Team Remington

LONOKE, Ark. – August 17, 2026 – For the second year in a row, Team Remington’s Todd Hitch is the Main Event Champion at the U.S. Open Sporting Clays Championship presented by Remington Ammunition. This year’s event drew more than a thousand of the best sporting clay shooters in the world to Game Unlimited in Hudson, Wisconsin. Hitch and Remington team members took home many of the top prizes including a Runner-Up finish in the Main Event by Remington teammate Mike Luongo. The tournament kicked off on Tuesday, August 11 and concluded on Sunday, August 16, 2026.
As a defending champion, Hitch came into this year’s U.S. Open with the expectation of going back-to-back. “It’s a mental challenge,” said Hitch. “The only thing you want to keep in mind is keeping your focus on the bird and executing the shot at all the stations,” said Hitch. Pete Melloy and his staff at Game Unlimited designed some challenging courses for the world’s best to test their shooting skills. “The targets were good. There wasn’t anything over the top, but nothing was a gimmie, so my goal was to minimize my mistakes for my part and hit as many targets as possible,” said Hitch.
In the Main Event, Hitch shot Remington’s Premier Nitro Sporting Clay shotshell. The payload contains 1 1/8 oz. of 8 shot at 1,300 fps. “It holds such a good pattern at 40 to 50 yards. Because of its pattern density, I have such confidence in that load to break every target on the course.” “It was an exceptional tournament for me personally. I had a top three finish in almost every event I competed in and made very few technical or mental errors. All in all, it is a weekend of shooting I won’t soon forget.”
Besides the Main Event, Hitch also won the Super Sporting over 826 shooters entered and he won the Beretta Gold Cup, which was combination of scores from the Main Event, FITASC, and the Super Sporting events. 532 shooters entered the Gold Cup. Mike Luongo’s Runner-Up finish in the Main Event saw him just one bird behind Todd Hitch after shooting 67 of 68 on the last Main Event course—his best finish this year and powered by Premier STS 1-1/8-oz #7.5 shot at 1,200 fps, Madison Sharpe had a great event as well, finishing 2nd in the Lady Main.
Team Remington competes and wins with Remington Premier shotshells. Top quality, consistency, and accuracy come standard when trap, skeet, or sporting competitors shoot the iconic Premier STS and Premier Nitro families of ammunition.
