Every once in a while you stumble on a gear gem. Even though at first glance I didn’t see it, the Qliplet is such a gem. This is a carabiner on steroids with a rotating, folding hook that hangs just about anywhere. It becomes a hook to hang things like bags, jackets, and gear off of just about anything. So not only is it a carabiner used to attach things, it is a hook to hold things.
On our recent trip out west we used the Qliplet as both a carabiner and as a hook. On a nightly basis, we extended the carabiner’s hook, slipped the hook onto a loop inside the tent to hold a small lantern. Prior to heading to sleep, we used the Qliplet to hang the light over the picnic table, illuminating our late night meals.
During the upcoming hunting season, I will use the Qliplet in the stand. When I hunt out of the blind, I will hang my bow from the extended hook. While hunting out of the treestand, I can hang my backpack easily against the tree. The hook allows me to move my bow and bag where a normal carabiner would be too difficult.
The Qliplet is simple to use and versatile. While it may not be a carabiner every day, you will find many uses along the way. Use the Qliplet to carry several grocery bags in from the car. Use it to clip multiple sets of keys and clip it to the inside of your backpack for a secure and handy placement of keys. Hook the Qliplet through a tarp grommet to attach it to fences. Clip your flipflops to your raft or kayak. Of course, having one on your pack along with a couple of heavy safety climbing carabiners for use in a crisis situation is just a smart move. For less than $20.00, the Qliplet it is worth having in your arsenal.
