Massey Earns Conservation Award

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Matt Massey, of Orleans, Nebraska, has received national recognition from the National Wild Turkey Federation as the recipient of the Roger M. Latham Sportsman Wild Turkey Service Award for his 27 years of dedication to the organization and for his exceptional ability to drive the NWTF Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative.

“I am honored to be chosen for this award; it is an award that so many of my dedicated fellow state board members and friends could have gotten,” Massey said. “They have worked by my side to make a strong presence in Nebraska: working to build chapters in our state, putting on programs for the kids, helping with the Women in the Outdoor Programs, taking new people on their first hunt and getting them involved with the NWTF. I’m honored to show that hard work can pay off. Thank you to the NWTF and National Board and staff for this award.”

Massey received one of five Roger M. Latham Sportsman Wild Turkey Service awards at the 44th annual NWTF Convention and Sport Show. Mossy Oak is the official convention sponsor.

Massey currently serves as Nebraska’s NWTF S.W. Limbhangers Chapter president is on the Nebraska NWTF board. When he is not getting local chapters to Golden Gobbler status or starting new chapters, Massey is often involved in youth or women hunter recruitment or improving wildlife habitat for turkeys and other game species.

“Matt’s work ethic serves as a prime example of what dedication and hard work can accomplish on the state level,” NWTF CEO Becky Humphries said. “We are thankful to have Matt as part of our team and look forward to his future accomplishments.”
