Michael Waddell of Bone Collector Headlines Seminar Series at Kansas Open Season Sportsman’s Expo

Michael Waddell, founder of Bone Collector on the Outdoor Channel, will headline the Seminar Series at the Kansas Open Season Sportsman’s Expo at the Overland Park Convention Center in Overland Park, KS, March 11-13, 2022. Waddell will share a variety of entertaining and educational stories from his years hunting. The native of Georgia is a champion turkey caller, who began his career in the hunting industry by winning a Realtree turkey calling contest and then began guiding and filming hunts. Waddell will also serve as the keynote speaker at the Kansas City-Safari Club International (SCI) Banquet, being held in the evening on Saturday, March 12 at the Overland Park Convention Center.

Byron Ferguson will perform his always popular Trick Shot Archery Show. The native of Alabama has been known to shoot blindfolded with his traditional bow and also shares various entertaining and often humorous stories from hunting excursions over the years.

Fishing demos will take center stage at the Hawg Tank, which is a mobile 5,000 gallon tank, built on a trailer frame, filled with water and stocked with fish to conduct demonstrations of fishing techniques. With the use of a sound system, guest fishing experts will both educate and entertain show attendees all weekend.

Thomas Heinen, a pro bass fisherman, will part of the Seminar Series at the Hawg Tank. Heinen is a five-time State Champion, five-time Angler of Year FHBA (Flint Hills Bass Association), four-time National Qualifier, three-time Bassmaster All-American and has 26 Career Wins, including the 2020 State Team, Bassmaster Open Angler.

Tommy Bench, the owner/operator of Gasconade River Guide Service, will be sharing his insight on River Smallmouth Fishing at the Hawg Tank.

Dion Hibdon, the 1997 Bassmaster Champion and 2000 FLW Forrestwood Cup Champion, will be conducting Fishing Demos on Saturday only.

Mark Tobin, Brent Frazee, Phil Taunton, Joe Falco, Kim Burnett, and Kenneth Kieser from the Outdoor Communicators of Kansas/Missouri, will host a Fishing & Wildlife Roundtable each of the three days of the Expo, featuring Bench and Heinen, as well as representatives from Wander Woman Kansas.

Brad Loveless, Secretary for Kansas Parks and Wildlife, will host an Open Discussion and Q&A on Saturday at Noon in Seminar Room A. He welcomes all questions and topics for discussion.

Also part of the Seminar Series, will be Eddie Salter, affectionately known as the “Turkey Man,” who has been hunting since the age of eight and harvested his first gobbler at 10-years-old. Salter has a remarkable record in turkey calling competition, claiming seven Southeastern Open Turkey Calling Championships, six Alabama State Championships and two World Open Championships.

Alan Probst, who is a master trapper of coyotes, will share his methods and best practices as part of the Seminar Series. Probst is well known for being the host and producer of the Wild Pennsylvania TV show and has appeared on numerous TV shows across the country.

Tom Mesnard will be sharing his vast knowledge on hunting land management. Mesnard has a very unique approach to land management and will focus on showing hunters how to manage their property to grow, hold, and harvest mature bucks. He has helped thousands of hunters in 27 states, dating back to 1984.
