MLF® and TrueTimber® Return to Competition for Bass Pro Tour Heavy Hitters Event on the Kissimmee Chain

INMAN, S.C. – June 4, 2020 – The Major League Fishing Bass Pro Tour is returning to action this weekend on the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes in Florida following Stage Three presented by TrueTimber which concluded March 18. The announcement comes after the restructuring of the schedule due to COVID-19 restrictions. This Heavy Hitters event will take place June 7-12 and will feature all 80 MLF Pros fighting for the $745,000 in prize money. TrueTimber anglers Edwin Evers and David Dudley will be in the pack looking to regain traction as competition resumes, fighting for valuable points in the hunt for the REDCREST Championship.

The traditionally eight stage MLF Bass Pro Tour, has been reduced to five stages after successfully completing three stages earlier this spring before events were forced to be postponed. This Heavy Hitters event followed by one more July 10-15 on Lake Champlain will conclude the season. For the safety of all involved, fan events and gatherings have been cancelled for the remainder of the season. Fans will have the opportunity to get full event coverage live at MajorLeagueFishing.com. Standings in the abbreviated five-stage tour will count towards the 2021 REDCREST Championship qualification.

“After working with state, local and Public Health officials, we feel we can return to the water for two finals tournaments in 2020,” said Boyd Duckett, MLF Co-Founder and pro angler. “Fishing is an inherently socially distant sport and while we will miss seeing our fans face-to-face, the Bass Pro Tour can deliver the drama of live-action sports to fans, while participating responsibly in a phased approach to help restart the economy.”

Defending REDCREST Champion Edwin Evers currently stands 29th with David Dudley just ahead of him at 27th in overall standings with only a three-point difference between them. Both anglers sit just above the REDCREST qualification line which encompasses the top 30 anglers.

“I’m excited to get back to fishing,” said Evers. “It’s in our blood and for me to have the National Anthem go off and get back in the boat and compete against the best guys in this race for a REDCREST qualifier will be fantastic. Over these last few weeks, this competition has been missing from my life!”

“We are really excited that all of the anglers have the opportunity to get back to the competition and we can’t wait to see Edwin and David in the official return to action,” said TrueTimber CEO Rusty Sellars. “MLF has been a great partner for years and we love being able to be a part of these events. We wish everyone competing the best of luck and look forward to watching the competition.”
