Mule Deer Foundation Thanks Sec. Vilsack for Appointing Randy Moore as next U.S. Forest Service Chief
Salt Lake City, UT: The Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) today thanked U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack for appointing Randy Moore as Chief of the U.S. Forest Service, and expressed appreciation to outgoing Chief Vicki Christiansen. Following is a statement by Mule Deer Foundation President/CEO Joel Pedersen:
“With his experience as the regional forester leading the U.S. Forest Service’s Pacific Southwest Region, Randy Moore understands the challenges facing our western forests and the need for shared stewardship to address ecosystem health and reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire. He is an excellent choice to serve as the next chief and the Mule Deer Foundation looks forward to working with him on forest restoration projects that are critically important to mule deer and black-tailed deer. MDF appreciates the leadership that Chief Christiansen has brought to the Forest Service on forest stewardship and landscape conservation; we wish her well in her retirement.”
