NWTF Joins Bass Pro Shops at World’s Fishing Fair

EDGEFIELD, S.C.— The National Wild Turkey Federation will be in Springfield, Missouri for Bass Pro Shops’ World’s Fishing Fair, hosted at Bass Pro Shops’ National Headquarters March 30 – April 3.

The NWTF will be one of over 200 exhibitors helping the premiere outdoor brand and retailer celebrate its 50-year anniversary.

“Bass Pro Shops is one of the NWTF’s most committed partners,” NWTF CEO Becky Humphries said. “We are beyond excited to celebrate this exciting time with them as we both look to another 50 years of conservation and hunting heritage success.”

The event will include live performances from some of the biggest names in music, seminars from America’s top outdoor pros and celebrities, deep sales on outdoor products and gear, and over $250,000 in prizes, with drawings every hour.

While at the event, the NWTF will be showcasing its Help the Yelp Project, a laser-focused campaign designed to bring all turkey hunters into the NWTF as active participants and stewards of the organization’s mission.

“We are about to be in the thick of the spring turkey season, and we want to encourage all outdoors enthusiasts to go out turkey hunting and to be stewards of the resource too,” said Jason Burckhalter NWTF chief information officer. “That’s what our Help the Yelp Project is all about.”

In addition, the NWTF booth will be hosting raffles and giveaways.

Humphries will be on site presenting Bass Pro Shops’ Founder Johnny Morris with a Corporate Conservation Circle Award, given to companies that have invested significant funds in contracted marketing with the NWTF.

NWTF conservation leadership will also be at the event hosting a seminar on the evolution of the NWTF and Bass Pro Shops partnership. The seminar will review the long-standing partnership between the NWTF and Bass Pro Shops and will outline how the partnership is working to support wild turkey conservation and its management.

Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s, for decades, have been staunch supporters of the NWTF mission. Just last year, the NWTF was awarded $300,000 from Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund, a landmark grant enabled by Morris and generous Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s customers who round up purchases in stores and online to the Outdoor Fund.

About the National Wild Turkey Federation

When the National Wild Turkey Federation was founded in 1973, there were about 1.3 million wild turkeys in North America. After decades of work, that number hit a historic high of almost 7 million turkeys. To succeed, the NWTF stood behind science-based conservation and hunters’ rights. Today, the NWTF is focused on the future of hunting and conservation through its Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative. Since 2012, this 10-year initiative has already eclipsed goals of conserving or enhancing more than 4 million acres of essential wildlife habitat, recruiting or retaining more than 1.5 million hunters and opening access to more than 500,000 acres for hunting and other recreation opportunities. This critical work will continue to impact wildlife habitat and our great outdoors in the final years of the initiative.
