NWTF Missouri Pledges more than $340,000 to Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. in 2020
EDGEFIELD, S.C. — During a recent board of directors meeting, the Missouri State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation approved $340,124 in funding to support the Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative in the state.
“Missouri is in the top three states in the country when it comes to our Super Fund budget,” said NWTF District Biologist John Burk. “The ‘show-me’ state has always helped set the bar, and the state chapters conserved acreage goals will account for 10% of the national goal. Team Missouri is doing its part to Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt.”
The board funded Save the Hunt. efforts in the state, supporting NWTF mentored hunt programming, youth shooting sports and more.
The Missouri State Chapter allocated funds for 10 educational and community outreach programs and seven shooting sport and mentored hunt projects; these 17 projects are components of NWTF’s efforts to Save the Hunt.
In addition, the Missouri board of directors dedicated funding to 20 Save the Habitat. projects in the state. Projects include: providing seed for NWTF members; restoration work at Missouri Prairie Foundation’s Stilwell Prairie; supporting a subsidy program to provide generic glyphosate to NWTF members; cost-share assistance programs in the Missouri River Hills and NEMO; assisting the Mark Twain National Forest with augmenting their aerial prescribed burning program; habitat restoration across a multitude of WMAs; providing match for USFWS Partners Programs; and much more.
