NWTF Names Lindler Director of Government Affairs

EDGEFIELD, S.C.—The National Wild Turkey Federation is proud to announce Matt Lindler as its new director of Government Affairs.

Lindler, approaching the 23rd year of his tenure with the NWTF, brings an abundance of diversified experience to the position.

Lindler began working for the NWTF in 1998 as a staff writer and photographer and would hold various positions interdepartmentally, including founder and editor of JAKES Magazine (now JAKES Country), which youth are still enjoying today; editor-in-chief of Turkey Country magazine; vice president of Communications; and, most recently, director of Conservation communications.

“NWTF’s role in policy has always intrigued me,” Lindler said. “Communicating our policy successes was always a rewarding experience, but I am excited for the challenge to orchestrate and elevate the NWTF’s voice at a federal level and ensure our members’ voices from across the country are heard and represented in D.C.”

In his most recent role, in addition to communicating NWTF’s conservation successes and challenges, Lindler worked closely with NWTF’s former director of Government Affairs to educate NWTF members on legislation that impacts NWTF’s mission delivery, help engage members through action alerts and pen policy press releases and articles.

NWTF’s members and audience have long enjoyed Lindler’s award-winning photography, magazine features and columns ? including “Field of View,” “Then and Now” and “Shooting Straight” ? and online articles throughout his career with the organization.

“Ink and pen are in my blood,” Lindler said. “I look forward to channeling my talents as a communicator in D.C., and I will continue to inform NWTF’s audience on our success and roadblocks alike.”

As an avid turkey hunter, dedicated conservationist, active volunteer and award-winning communicator, Lindler will play a key role ensuring the NWTF’s mission is represented on Capitol Hill.

“For decades, Matt has demonstrated that he is a staunch and effective communicator of NWTF’s multifaceted mission,” NWTF CEO Becky Humphries said. “His experience communicating the NWTF’s policy agenda coupled with his insight on NWTF’s conservation delivery makes him an ideal candidate for this role.”

About the National Wild Turkey Federation

When the National Wild Turkey Federation was founded in 1973, there were about 1.3 million wild turkeys in North America. After decades of work, that number hit a historic high of almost 7 million turkeys. To succeed, the NWTF stood behind science-based conservation and hunters’ rights. Today, the NWTF is focused on the future of hunting and conservation through its Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative. Since 2012, this 10-year initiative has already eclipsed goals of conserving or enhancing more than 4 million acres of essential wildlife habitat, recruiting or retaining more than 1.5 million hunters and opening access to more than 500,000 acres for hunting and other recreation opportunities. This critical work will continue to impact wildlife habitat and our great outdoors in the final years of the initiative.
