NWTF South Dakota Pledges nearly 30,000 to Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. in 2020
EDGEFIELD, S.C. — During a recent board of directors meeting, the South Dakota State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation approved $29,200 for 17 proposals, and those funds will be matched with at least $57,563 in partner contributions to support the Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative in the state.
“The South Dakota State Chapter continues to contribute Super Fund dollars to efforts that move the needle toward the goals of the Save The Habitat. Save The Hunt. initiative,” said NWTF District Biologist Jim Pitman. “Since 2013, NWTF South Dakota contributions have helped to conserve or enhance 63,850 acres, open 20,036 acres to public access and create 566 new hunters. The efforts of the South Dakota State Chapter are making a difference when it comes to conserving the wild turkey and preserving our hunting heritage.”
The board funded Save the Hunt. efforts in the state, supporting NWTF mentored hunt programming, youth shooting sports and more.
In addition, the South Dakota Board of Directors dedicated funding to Save the Habitat. in the state. Project funding includes woodland restoration and assistance with securing public access to private lands and landlocked public lands.
