Ramsey, Minn. – July 24 -Bring the family and enjoy the newest equipment and advice the upland game world has to offer at Pheasants Forever Hill. Taking place at the 2008 Game Fair from August 8-10th and again from August 15-17th, Pheasants Forever Hill will be packed with action sure to entertain and inform people of all ages. From 9 AM to 6 PM daily, people will have the opportunity to meet knowledgeable experts in dog training, pheasant hunting, and conservation. PF Hill will also have exciting activities for young attendees.

As the 50,000+ visitors of the 2007 Game Fair can attest, this event is truly a family experience. Being held in Ramsey, Minnesota, at Armstrong Kennels Ranch, six miles northwest of Anoka, Pheasants Forever Hill is home to a very fun and educational youth area sure to keep youngsters entertained with an array of planned activities.

“Showing our younger generations a good time outdoors is important because a person’s participation in outdoor recreational activities as an adult is directly related to their involvement as a kid,” explained Rich Wissink, PF’s youth program specialist. “In order to make sure people care about wildlife habitat conservation in the future we have to be sure to inspire appreciation of the outdoors in youth today,” added Wissink.

There will be opportunities to create plaster molds of animal tracks as well as Rudy the Rooster buttons. Youth participants will also have a chance to take their learning experience home with them by subscribing to the PF Ringnecks Youth Program. This program gives youth an opportunity to take part in other activities throughout the year as well as offering a year’s subscription to PF’s Upland Tales publication.

The Game Fair is also a great opportunity to become a Pheasants Forever member with special membership premiums being offered each day of Game Fair. Annual PF membership includes a year’s subscription to the PF Journal, a vehicle decal, membership card, and invitation to your local PF chapter event.

PF also kicks off the 6th Minnesota Build a Wildlife Area campaign at Game Fair. The unique campaign raises funds for the acquisition of public wildlife areas. Since the campaigns inception in 2003, Build a Wildlife Area partners have generated over $780,000 and acquired six new Wildlife Management Areas in Minnesota totaling 1,553 acres, all of which have been transferred to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and are open to the public. The Anoka County PF Chapter, PF National, Game Fair, and Outdoor News partnered to develop the concept in 2003, and Gander Mountain and Ron Schara have been the largest financial contributors. KFAN also does an annual radio-a-thon in support of the campaign as well.

Through this unique partnership, every dollar raised is tripled with matching grants from the Minnesota DNR, the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and other partners. Essentially, each $100 becomes $300 through the campaign. There are lots of ways to participate in the campaign. First, stop by the Anoka County PF Chapter booth just inside the Game Fair main gates and pick up your raffle tickets, then stop at the PF booth on Pheasants Forever Hill, and also donate online through the Pheasants Forever website .

The Build a Wildlife Area campaign has been such a success in Minnesota that similar campaigns are now also up and running in Illinois, Iowa, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Exhibitors on Pheasants Forever Hill this year include national sponsors: Native performance dog food, SportDog, and Vedalo HD , as well as TPK Leather, Techmix, and Ameriprise.

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever are non-profit conservation organizations dedicated to the protection and enhancement of pheasant, quail, and other wildlife populations in North America through habitat improvement, land management, public awareness, and education. PF/QF has more than 129,000 members in 700 local chapters across the continent.
