QDMA Presents 2020 Ambassador Award to Bill Shockey of Louisiana

ATHENS, GA (May 26, 2020) – At the 2020 Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) Whitetail Weekend, QDMA presented its Ambassador Award to Bill Shockey of Louisiana (pictured above, middle, with his wife Stacey, and other QDMA members from Louisiana who attended Whitetail Weekend). This prestigious award is not given out annually, and only five other people have been presented with the award in the past.

“I have known Bill Shockey for several decades, and it was the QDMA that brought us together,” said QDMA founder Joe Hamilton. “During his involvement with the association, he has dedicated many hours of personal time to ensure that his South Louisiana Branch runs smoothly and is effective in all activities. Bill has been especially supportive of educational pursuits over the years and has been the key contact with LSU in conducting seminars there.”

Shockey is a founding board member of his local QDMA Branch and has served as Secretary-Treasurer for more than 20 years. He tirelessly contributes resources, time, knowledge, and hard work to both his Branch and the organization as a whole. It is through his efforts that his Branch has been able to have successful fundraisers, sponsor local educational events, disseminate information to members, contribute to local conservation efforts and sponsor research.

Shockey joins five former winners of QDMA’s Ambassador Award: Marion Burnside of South Carolina, Stu Lewis of South Carolina, Chip West of Delaware, Peter J. Stuart of Australia, and Judge Holdford of North Carolina.
