Review of Muck Boots: Women’s Wetlands, Women’s Premium Field Boot

Marjorie Moss with Muck BootsA couple weeks ago, I received with pleasure a pair of Muck Boots – the Women’s Wetlands Boots – tagged as the “premium field boot” for women. Designed specifically for women, the Muck Boot Women’s Wetlands boot features a 5mm CR flex-foam bootie that is 100% waterproof, lightweight, and flexible. The rugged natural rubber outsole includes added toe protection and tread that allows for good grip on paths and rocky shorelines.

My first outing with the new boots was to a little WMA lake just outside of town to try some early-season fishing. After last summer’s drought and below normal precipitation during the winter, the lake was several feet lower than usual. The receded shoreline not only exposed countless tires, beer cans, and a broken microwave but several new feet of thick mud. Perfect test grounds for my Women’s Wetlands! Not to worry – the Muck Boots lived up to their name. Solid footing, waterproof, easy to clean.

Touted with a comfort range of -2ºF to 70ºF, the lining is comprised of a breathable air-mesh. Good thing, too, because with temps in the low 60ºs, my feet were warm but never too sweaty. I am eager to try my Muck Boots in colder conditions, though that will have to wait until fall. I feel confident that with a nice pair of SmartWool socks, these boots will keep my feet toasty even in freezing hunting conditions.

As with similar Muck Boots, the Women’s Wetlands offer hands free easy-on/easy-off access. No bending down to lace up the boots, no need to stop and re-tie laces. Simply slip your feet into the boots and you are ready to go.

Another important feature designed to make life easier for us outdoorsmen and women: Muck Boots wash up easily with a simple spray of the hose. If you step a little too far into the water and the boots get wet inside, just take out the cushion insole and blow-dry the lining. At the end of the season, you can condition the rubber outsole by wiping it down with mild soapy water and letting the boots air-dry.

From muddy lakeshores to more rugged terrain afield, I will more often than not be found in my Women’s Wetlands. So easy to use and care for and so easy to wear, I find myself slipping my feet into my Muck Boots even for simple chores in my yard. If you find yourself thinking about a new pair of all-around versatile boots that are warm, waterproof, comfortable and easy to care for, check out Muck Boots. As the Muck Boots Company claims: “Life isn’t always comfortable. Your boots should be.” And mine are.
