Anglers win more than $31,000 in winnings
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (June 16, 2020) – Trevor Taylor, of Panama City, Florida, and Bill Burke, of Crestview, Florida, weighed a two-fish limit that totaled 18.97 pounds to win the first regular-season event for the Louisiana Division of the IFA Redfish Tour presented by Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s on June 13, at Lafitte, Louisiana. The team won a fully rigged Ranger RB190 boat prize package powered by a 90-horsepower, four-stroke Mercury outboard.
After the passing of a tropical storm, Taylor and Burke found clean water and little wind while fishing. They ran 60 miles to fish the waters of Houma. The concentrated on sight-fishing in grass with spoons and soft plastics.
“We are overwhelmed with this win,” said Taylor. “We didn’t’ think we were going to make it due to a family emergency. However, we stayed with our plan and stuck to it all day. It’s the best feeling ever. These are some of the best anglers in the world so any win against these guys and gals is amazing.”
Along with winning a Ranger boat, the team added $3,576 in Anglers Advantage cash while their 10.10-pound kicker earned the $500 Berkley Big Redfish award. In total, the anglers went home with $31,076 in winnings.
Second-place finishers Kevin Harvey, of Bourg, Louisiana, and Kelly Dupre, of Houma, Louisiana, brought 18.68 pounds of redfish to the scales. The team took advantage of the sunny skies and sight-fished Berkley Gulp! and Powerbait.
Coming in a close third place was Brandon Arceneaux, of Gray, Louisiana, and Bubba Corbin, of Houma, Louisiana, who weighed a total of 18.60 pounds to win a total of $3,112. Running 65 miles during competition, the team reported ideal conditions and found their fish by sight-fishing soft plastics.
The next stop for the IFA Redfish Tour is set for Port Lavaca, Texas, on July 11. Teams that compete in at least two regular-season events will be qualified for the 2020 IFA Redfish Tour Championship.
