This Week on HSCF’s “Hunting Matters” Radio & Podcast: John Whitehurst, founder and owner of Sauvignon John Wines

Houston Safari Club Foundation (HSCF) and “Hunting Matters” welcomes John Whitehurst, founder and owner of Sauvignon John Inc., a Houston-based winery.

John graduated from Texas A&M University in 2017 and previously worked as a VP for Frost Bank in their Commercial Lending department. John spent a year before launching his wine company, collaborating with a team of acclaimed winemakers in California, to curate wine to be extremely approachable for the everyday wine drinker and exceptional in quality, flavor and balance. Sauvignon John’s mission is to provide their customers with a premium bottle of wine that tastes like a bottle twice its price. They do this by streamlining the wine supply chain and reducing touch points, thus reducing the number of times it is marked up before it gets to the consumer. Sauvignon John was recently voted “Best Wine of the Year” per Swoon magazine’s latest issue in January of 2022. Currently, they make a Cabernet Sauvignon, a Sauvignon Blanc, and a Rosé wine.

John enjoys hunting, playing tennis, and spending time with his wife, Carly, and their two dogs. John is an avid whitetail deer hunter. Born in Corpus Christi, John has hunted South Texas his entire life. In addition to whitetail hunting, John also enjoys dove hunting and quail hunting with his German short-haired pointer.
