Trinity Oaks Strengthens Partnership with San Antonio’s Food Bank

Trinity Oak’s Thumbtack Ranch, the first Purple Heart ranch in the country, located in Batesville, Texas, a partner with San Antonio Food Bank for the past four years, will be taking the partnership to a new phase. Trinity Oaks announced that it will be transitioning its venison processing component of its outreach program to San Antonio Food Bank’s venison processing facility – Casa Venado. In preparation for the opening of Casa Venado, the Food Bank has been operating the Trinity Oaks processing facility for the past two years. In the past four years Trinity Oaks has processed over 1 million pounds of meat and has provided over 5 million meals to those in need.

“We are very proud of our successful partnership with San Antonio Food Bank,” said Tom Snyder, Founder and Chairman of Trinity Oaks. “With Casa Venado fully operational in San Antonio it only makes sense for us to shut down our processing efforts and send our ranch and hunting partners to Casa Venado with their venison.

“This allows both our charities to better focus on our strengths and doing what we do best. It is a win-win and great demonstration of how two great charities can work together for the better good of the community.”

Eric Cooper, President & CEO of the San Antonio Food Bank added, “Tom and the Trinity Oaks team did an incredible job teaching us everything we could learn about processing venison. We are very excited to help steward their donors and continue the legacy they began many years ago with their tremendous venison program.”

Casa Venado, San Antonio Food Bank’s venison processing facility, is located on the Food Bank’s main campus, housed in the Mays Family Culinary Center. The processing facility is state-of-the-art and will offer a full array of services to ranchers and hunters this season. With seed funding from the Dobson family and others, Casa Venado is entering its 2nd full year of operation in serving south Texas ranches and hunters.

The Hunters for the Hungry program has been part of the San Antonio Food Bank for nearly a decade and is the lifeline to Casa Venado. For information about Hunter’s for the Hungry and Casa Venado visit www.safoodbank.org/hunters.
