Former Governor will be 32nd Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture
Today, the U.S. Senate confirmed former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack as the 32nd Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Vilsack previously served as the 30th Secretary of Agriculture under President Barack Obama from 2009-2017. Secretary Vilsack was confirmed in a bipartisan vote of 92-7.
“When it comes to operating a federal agency with as much jurisdiction as the U.S. Department of Agriculture, leadership matters,” said Ducks Unlimited CEO Adam Putnam. “Secretary Vilsack displayed a steady hand and a strong commitment to conservation during his previous tenure leading the department, as well as during his governorship of a state with a robust and diverse agricultural economy that he helped grow.
