Union Sportsmen’s Alliance Welcomes Local 881 of the United Food & Commercial Workers
Partnership demonstrates shared appreciation for the outdoors, value of union membership
Spring Hill, Tenn.—The Union Sportsmen’s Alliance (USA) is pleased to welcome Local 881 of the United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW) as its first non-charter local union affiliate—bringing added value to its members while supporting conservation.
Like the USA’s 18 international charter unions, Local 881 UFCW will provide imperative funding and resources to help support the USA’s mission to unite the union community through conservation to preserve North America’s outdoor heritage.
With four Illinois offices, Local 881 UFCW represents 34,000 members in a variety of retail and service industries throughout Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
“While our members have diverse backgrounds and interests, we know many of them enjoy the hunting, fishing and outdoor opportunities Illinois has to offer,” said Local 881 UFCW President Steven Powell. “We’re proud to support an organization that helps our hardworking women and men better connect with fellow union members and enjoy the activities they are passionate about, while providing them with volunteer opportunities to actively support conservation work.”
As an extension of their union membership, all active and retired Local 881 members may take advantage of a no-cost USA membership, which provides access to USA events, special promotions and discounts, and the opportunity to apply for a hunting or fishing trip on the USA’s YouTube video series, Brotherhood Outdoors.
“Illinois has always been one of the USA’s most active states,” said USA Executive Director and CEO Walt Ingram. “We have great volunteers throughout the state who host an annual sporting clay shoot in the Chicagoland area, annual conservation dinners in multiple cities, and our volunteers have completed more than a dozen conservation projects and outreach events throughout the state. We look forward to getting Local 881 members engaged in all our activities to bring them value while strengthening the USA’s mission.”
